Goretex - Is it true?

I'll second that...absolutely waterproof and warm so you'll rarely need to use heated grips in this country. I'm sure they were cheaper direct from New Zealand when I bought them-maybe the exchange rate not so good now.

Never had a problem with Gore-tex leaking while using heated grips. The thing to make sure of is that if its gona rain tuck the cuffs into the jacket sleeves before you start off, can be fiddly but once done you dont get the wet from the jacket sleeves running down into the gloves, whether gore-tex or not water will get in if they aint tucked in!

was at the ski and snowboard show last week and spoke to the guys on the Goretex stand about this. The official response had to come from the head office and is as follows:

"Yes, your gloves will still work and no harm will come to them by using your heated grips.

One point to be aware of is that you should aim to have your hands "not cold" rather than "hot".

If it is raining heavy and you have your grips on full power, you may create a condition which reverses the breathability of the membrane. If this happens then you will feel the palm of your hand damp.

If this happens, your glove is not damaged. If you turn your grip to low setting or switch it off then the glove will revert to being waterproof immediately."

Nor me, I have a pair of priceyBMW Gortex gloves which work perfectly, even have a built in visor wipe.

I have a pair of these & they do work perfectly, even with the heated grips on.

BTW I did'nt think they were pricey, considering they do as they do.

Just what I said .. my hands lookd like albino prunes after a few hours in the rain on 'hot' hands.

Not in my experience.
My cold/wet weather gloves are leather and gortex, the same as issued to the British Military. Have been using them throughout last two winters and all this year with the cr*p weather that we have had. My hands have stayed dry and warm. Put the hand grips on and the leather drys out and water stays where it belongs - on the outside.
Get yourself down to a decent surplus store and buy a pair. You will not be dissapointed.

Vote SteveE - I've been using these for winter commuting for 5+ years and never had a leak/wet hands at all. Usually £10ish on ebay.

I think I have the same gloves - the summer gloves? Mine leaked with heated-grips on.
