Heading west from Moustiers to Castellane- North route d952 or south bank d71.

Car not bike.

I’ve been looking into this also as I’m headed that way next week. From what I can gather the d71 is the better drivers road, with less traffic than the north road. But there is a circular one way route off the north road which offers the most spectacular views. I’m also going to be in a car (MX5) and am hoping to spend two days there. One driving and one on the lake, with a hire boat .

I think you mean "Heading EAST to Castellane".

Anyway, if you have time I would do both as in a circuit as both roads are good. May not be possible I realise. 22 years since I was last there.

D'oh. Yes, of course I do!

Let us know what you did and how it went would you ? :beerjug:
I will! Currently I’m leaning towards the south route, but the Route Des Cretes loop as per Arsey’s post looks great.
We’ll decide on the day, and I will post nice pictures taken by Mrs Berin.
No point in posting mine as they will be shite.

Depends on day of the week and time of day but I prefer upper (north) route.

We stayed at the Auberge des Cretes a couple of weeks ago - cheap and cheerful but recommended.

All being well, it will be Thursday 2nd July.

If you stay in Moustiers or thereabouts and get a reasonably early start on the Thursday, I would suggest either route would be good fun. On the lower route your more likely to get behind a dawdler prone to suddenly stopping to take another photo!

We are staying in Moustiers, so can hopefully get away in good time👍

The views from the north are much better though the roads on the south are more fun .
I’d definitely go north in a car . You get the best views , especially at Point Sublime . Park up and take the short walk . Then drive the Routes des Cretes .
Last time I did it I was riding above the Griffon Vultures. Just stunning .

Routes des Cretes - clockwise ore anticlockwise?

I prefer the longer southern loop, the north side is a straight East-West run, shorter and not as varied, but both are good, never done the single track inner loop that can be taken from the Northern side, which is on my "next time" list.

Thanks - could have been embarrassing!
Yes - I got sent back after going halfway around when I went anti-clockwise !
You are allowed go halfway round anti-clock wise though.
