I have seen pics on this site of riders going thro various gorges, has anyone got information as to map location and nearest village/town and degree of difficulty/ease to get to and ride thro on a R1200gs with panniers, solo. Also a indication of the best ones would be good. Thanks
PS in Morroco

No one going to help the man ???

There's the well known Todra and Dades gorges. You can drive a fair distance along them without going off road.

The southern point of the Todra starts at Tinerhir.

The dades at Boumaine dades.

There are other options, i.e. riding up one and across to the other. Depends what you want and how capable you are off road.

There are many others.

The Todra gorge is tarmac all the way - and wide enough to get 53 seater coaches up. It's sadly lined with tat stalls now, and wilst the rock formations are spectaclular, the tourist show has spoiled it really. Good road to ride for a 1200GS mind.

No idea about the Dades, didn't go.

Until the storms in october/november - and then it's wiped clean of road and no tourists, and it's out of season. Much more fun :D

Todra can be fun sometimes

Looking to do the trip up the Todra and down the Dades in March with a mate on his 12GS who has no offroad experience.
How realistic is it?? Floods in March??

I came down the Dades last April (Great trip thanks Fanum) but haven't done the Todra. Would we be better cutting across - I would really prefer the longer trip via Agoudal but suspect that may be pushing it a bit too far.

Trip will be 80-90% on tarmac (to get him hooked on Morocco). I plan to put on TCK-80s since I have a good set but will Tourances cope with this bit?

I suppose if a push comes to a shove, we can ride up as far as we can and then come back and do the same in the other. I was gobsacked last time and it just has to be done.

Although, to be honest, I don't think he has got his head round how fekkin' dirty his pride & joy will get in Morocco :augie.
