Took this on the way home from an Austrian weekend in Donegal.
Just North of Port Salon. You can see most of the mountain still blazing , nesting birds couldn't have stood a chance! Sad.

lot are being done by teenagers, others are in fact done by farmers etc. who have been told they cant cut turn anymore

I was out on a recce run for the humm off rd run yesterday and a lot off burned bogs round here too. 1 trail was burned and it is alot harder to do now that you can see the holes and rocks under the heather.

Up here it is neither teens or farmers (teens are too lazy to walk to the bogs and farmers dont want there fences burned) There is just some people who cant walk past a whin bush or dry grass with out trying to burn it.
we know who our local fire starter is but cant prove it. dont know why he does it but he does and hes about 60.
There was fire starters when i was young there is different fire starters now and there will be more fire starters when i am gone. Thats just life.

The crofters use to falaisg there own land but since decrofting the land is not looked after as well hence the the bigger fires

Saw a lot of forest fires when I chased the Carnmore viewpoint photo target. On the road, I met some rangers who were trying to put out a few fires. I asked and they said that many fires were lit deliberately and pointed at a farmer standing beside. He looked very ashamed, like "time to burn gorse, oops a bit windy today..."
