Got myself a new toy

Brings back memories. I had one the same colour that came with the Rickman touring fairing back in the day. 👍

Nice bike, looks like Henry Cole's? 🤷

CB550/4K

Mate of mine bought one new in 1979 I think it was, I had the earlier 500/4.

Nice find Bryn :thumb2

That is lovely Bryn. I had an old CB750F2 back in the early 1980's (which I sold in 1985) and have a bit of a soft spot for old SOHC Honda 4's. Health to use her (y)

Looks like new apart from the carbs which need setting up … won’t tick over.. but I’ve got my man on it 😎

Henry Cole owned it for approx 4 years … I think he was the second owner….Im the 4th which ain’t bad for a 47 year old bike .
Had a top end rebuild in the past year…. And there isn’t a speck of rust on it

Good buy that. Will be sorted with a carb clean probably. Enjoy, they're great bikes. (y)

The guy I bought it from got a set of-reconditioned carbs from Holland, he fitted them and it’s never run right since….so it may be a blocked jet … it’ll run once it’s warm… but initial inspection showed No.4 cylinder down pipe not getting hot like the rest… looking forward to tackling it 😎

That's a great bike. I had the F1 version new, in blue with the 4 into 1. Still to this day one of the best bikes I've owned. rode it in all weathers, all year round as I didn't have a car license then.

That will be Gerben. He has a very good reputation with carbs. It may be worth getting in touch with him if all else fails? He has an eBay shop in the name of gerben1956. (y)

Excellent info thanks 👍

Had a F1 on 1980 . Lovely bike so smooth . Very susceptible to blocked air filters so put a new one on NOS if possible . It was so reliable back then and pretty fast . The brakes were amazing after T500’s and H1 Kawasakis

I had an orange f1 in 77 it was a great bike until some drunken bastard shoved me off the rd into a wall.

Lovely bike :) I had two cb750 back in the day one was one of the early one's the second one was a kz model ,
