Well, having talked to my local dealer and being fairly underwhelmed with their trade in offer against a new 1200GS, I spent too much time on the net looking for a good deal on a second hand 08 and eventually found it
2008 GS, dynamic pack, premium pack, two months old with 370 miles on it in Dobles Honda dealership in Surrey for £9695. A couple of phone calls later and they had agreed on what I wanted for my bike to trade in, did me a deal on delivery to holyhead and had a deposit. One very early start on monday had me on the 08.20 ferry from dublin to holyhead with a view to meet their driver between 12noon and 13.30 to hop on the 13.50 ferry back... wasn't quite as smooth as that
Delivery van broke down and only got to holyhead around 16.00, and the 17.00 ferry had been cancelled... next one was at 22.15
But the dealership were good, kept me informed of what was going on, and the driver actually had to go on to do a second delivery to swansea after.
Anyway, got the bike, had a bit of a blast around the area, filled her up and got on the ferry. Into dublin at 01.45 that night, home for 03.30 with one fairly minging GS... and I would have turned around and done the trip all over again
Now due the first service and bloody delighted with the bike, and a great bunch to deal with in Dobles - pity they aren't a BMW dealership.
Yee har!
