At the risk of serious abuse for my home mechanics skills, what do you think?

Just puzzled why you are interested in other peoples opinions of the appearance.

Main isues are, does it work OK? Vibrate at speed? Vis good? Secure?

I've used the RAM mount on a Quest off the front horiz bar. Vibrates at idle but not at speed (irritant when pushing the tiny buttons at a short stop), holds the unit secure, vis good, easy removed/replaced. Verdict 80%

makes the front look better......

...but a brick through the screen would do that too :)

the cover does improve on the ugly screen that the 1200 has :thumb

That garage is a mess. Is that a c1930 clothes drying rack in the back there?

I like the ram mount or the one that goes on the handlebar bracket :)

Is that a big enough bolt

Hmmm. Not sure.

It looks ok. It's as steady as a rock. Hardly any impairment of the screen movement but...

the view is too upright/perpendicular and you lose some of the screen definition particularly in brighter conditions.

Solution. I could put a set of clip-ons to replace the standard bars. I could make up some kind of wedge/spacer to raise the bottom of the Nav screen.

Trouble is the screws that fix the Nav cradle to the billet bracket have to go in at 90'.

Ideally, I would use the bit that B*W use to fix to the top of the bars. This has a built in swivel action. Trouble is the bracket it sits on will not match the billet bracket.

OK whose bored?? :tosser

Actually tossers, this is important to me cos it could help me get back on a bike sooner (if at all  ) by making things a whole lot more comfortable. I can then raise and move the bars back a little so your help is appreciated.

Have tidied garage and yes it is a dryer for my gear.

The RAM stuff looks good but I don't think there is one for the system I've got.

.
Which is why I've got a RAM ball/arm/ball arrangement between my Motorrad Concepts mount and my SPIII cradle.

Yes but..

the gps I have has the separate cradle (with the extra buttons on the left) which you mount the main unit in/on to and lock in place.

Or doesn't that make a hapworth of difference?

Skippy.

Motorrad Concepts make an angled, wedge shaped, spacer for their mount. With it fitted the unit is as the perfect angle.

If the cradle has holes in the back to fit a RAM ball, in the same way that the Garmin SPIII cradle does or if you can drill it, then you could probably perform the same mod. My GPS does shake around a wee bit but it doesn't affect its function. I've given up plumbing the voice commands into my helmet because it's in such a good position. I can also now reach the buttons on the SPIII while sitting on the bike.

That's it!

Laughing Bob,

Where did you get that? My mount is a Motorrad Concepts so that looks to solve the problem. Looks a bit hefty though. Any more shots of it and particularly with the cradle in place (I'm assuming you have the same gps as me.

I'll check the brochure again.

Motorrad Concepts make and sell it, so it fits perfectly onto the mount. It looks heavy in the photo but, it's alli' so doesn't weigh much. I have a Quest but, if your using a Garmin mount for your 2610 then it will fit perfectly as all the Garmin mounts have exactly the same fittings. The spacer probably won't be in the brochure as it's a new addition.

Nice, it looks good! How do you feel about having the GPS higher-up above the centre of the console?

By comparison mine in a pure RAM-mount solution (pics: http://www.crypticide.com/users/alecm/albums/2005-ram-mount/ ) and with some careful adjustment - and maybe a little swearing - can mostly live in the gap above the speedo, left of the rev counter.

I think I see what you mean  I have a clear view of both speedo and tacho:

Yeah - I can shuffle mine around until the only thing I lose is the "1" and "2" of the Tacho - which frankly I don't mind losing very much :D - and I was/am stillconsidering getting a longer RAM arm to put it up higher, putting my 2610 at a similar height to where you have your Quest.

What makes me wonder is whether the GPS obstructs the line-of-sight through the screen, if you hunker down out of the wind as I do sometimes?

Come over for a beer!

Alecmuffett, I'm only in Reading (the Wokingham side) so why not come over.

Laughingbob, don't know where you are! The gps setup looks good though.

I think the gps should be almost at the same angle as the clocks for the best view so this is what I'm aiming for.

Keep it coming though cos it seems that nobody has got the same setup and each has their good and bad points.

Skippy.

I can't get that low I'm too old :( I think the taller version could impair your vision but, the shorter version would be fine :D

when you have this motorrad bracket, the screen can go into position no.1 ??? the lowest ???

No, the lowest it will go is the middle position.
