I picked up my F800 GS Adventure around a month ago and I haven't got round to fitting a GPS yet.

I've been doing a fair bit of hunting around online trying to find a decent setup but I'm coming a bit unstuck.

I think I'll be using a Garmin Zumo 390 LM and would like to mount it to the bar above the dials. I'd like to steer clear of a ram mount as I think these project the GPS up too high and just generally look a bit naff.

Any one got any suggestions for a nice clean mount? Or am I best to go with a home brew option?

Be interested to see some of your GPS setups.

Thanks in advance!

You could have a look at the BMW mount for the 660 and see if it would work/adapt for your 390 LM.

I have this set up on my 800ADV and it works/looks good.

Cheers Dave.

I know you've dismissed Ram mounts, but the neatest way I found of mounting a GPS was to replace one of the handlebar clamp mounts with a Ram ended bolt and then the bracket. The power lead snakes down to the battery and the job is complete.

The Zumo 390 LM is a nice piece of kit and easy to install. I have the 590LM I mounted it on my handlebars next to the LH switch/clutch cluster on the provided ram mount.
There was a good reason to fix it there, its closer/less reach to make changes than above the dials on the screen brace.
I have always used the ram mount and had no troubles with them the set is ideally placed and doesn't look naff to me

Worth considering how you will make changes/ease of use to the GPS while on he move before spending hard earned cash.

This is how I mounted my Garmin 660.........

Just what I have done on my F650GS.

Thanks for all the replies!

Jersey_gs my dad has a Tiger 800 with a 390LM mounted in the same area. It's useful as you say for on the fly changes but I prefer the idea of being able to see the GPS straight ahead.

V2 TRV I was having a look at some of their stuff last night after posting this thread!

Blue sweeper is that a Touratech lovable mount? The bracket on the back of it(the bit that actually clamps the bar) looks neat. I'd really like something clean and neat.

I think BMW made a quick release version but I can't find it.

It's a Touratech mount for the Garmin 660 with the vibration damper part removed and a BMW quick release adaptor for mounting on the cross bar, except that I replaced the quick release leaver with a nylock nut and bolt.

Blue Sweeper but what is that black bar you have mounted the clamp to please ? I'm using the Migsel block mounted in the centre of the bars with the lockable TT mount, so it's relatively low down and would prefer it higher up.

It's a standard tall screen mount used on the F800 GSA.

GS sat nav mount

I just used the parts that were in the Sat Nav kit and mounted it on the side of the screen frame. Been all over the place with it from Gibraltar to Lake district without any problems.

Wouldn't be without it.

I'm in the same situation wanting to mount my TomTom above the clocks. I got pointed in the direction of this guy who sells these custom made mounts for the F800 GS. He responds to messages fairly quickly an feedback on the products Facebook page is very positive . I've just ordered mine. Should be here in a week.
