Ive got a quest fitted on a ram mount on my 12gsa
and ive plugged it straight into the proper gps socket by the top yoke
now then... after 20 sec of turning the bike off the quest should
power down but mine does'nt it keeps going. the only time it has powered down is if ive got something charging off the power socket.
Ive been up to blue bell this morning to get my front discs changed
cause id warped them :D so while i was there i asked paul if he cauld
get someone to have a look at the gps. i got my bike back and he said
that there were no faults on the loom and that it should power down after 20
seconds but the mount still draws power he reconds that the actual
cradel is faulty. So what do you think i should do next? should i get a new mount and power pack that ive seen on duchmans site? or should i just
put up with how it is.? :nenau

It seems sometimes that if power is being drawn on the socket that it keeps live untill the load is removed, at least it was that way on my last 1200 :thumb

Doesn't your Quest have a very useful internal battery that means that it stays powered up until you switch it off.
All the 26xx etc series units would power down as normal as they have no internal batteries.

The socket is permanently live, so if you leave it plugged in, it'll stay on.

If you turn it off, it'll charge off the socket.

On my 1150Adv I just unplug the socket when I stop, or take the Quest out of the cradle and put it in my tank bag/pocket.

If your meaning the connection that needs the special plug; I use the same for my 2610. No problems powering down although it won't do this immediately. The controller will switch the socket off when it's good and ready.

I wouldn't worry about it. After the (last Winter) software update, all sorts of peculiar things happen to different bikes regarding those sockets. For instance, I found my 1200 would allow me to plug in the BMW charger to the accessory socket a day after the bike was powered down = the socket was still live, and there was no need to go through the normal ignition routine.

Is'n't there a setting in the gps telling it how to behave when power is lost? Stay on for eaxample?

Yep, but if the sockets permanently live you'll never lose power while it's plugged in to it...................
