Right everyone,

I know i've asked for willing volunteers to install my 2610 for me, but i've been looking on advrider, and noted that some bikes have some sort of power supply at the front of the bike near the headstock. Its not an aux power supply. You can find it on the left hand side, beneath the metal clip that holds some cables to the frame.

Does anyone know what they're referring to, what its for and if its safe to tap into the power on it?

:eek

It's a power take off point rated at 5 amps and is intended for the BMW Motorrad Navigator II/III power cable.

We make a range of GPS power cables for this outlet:

Guys if Dutch can sort me out with a correct cable, I have a genuine power lead to connect to battery (or other power supply) for the 2610.

Cost me £25+vat, yours for £20 + postage.

Hi Dutch Would you be willing to sell just the canbus connector plug?

We are unable to supply the plug on it's own.

You can either purchase one of our complete cables or we can convert your own cable for £19.95 inc.VAT plus shipping.......

Are these cables that plug into the BMW socket near the headstock (the funny shape one thats part of the orignial wiring)

can you do this for quest cables as well?

Ie if i have a QPAC cable from GPSW eg http://www.gpsw.co.uk/details/prod2826.html

then can you remove the 12v socket plug and convert this cable so it will plug into the socket near the headstock?

Or we can convert your cable.....

Dutch I'm planning on fitting a 2610 to my 1150 Adv, should i go for the basic unit or is it worth the extra for the bike cable and bracket, ideally I would like to mount it above the clocks so powering it from the hidden socket would be ideal.

The 1150GS/A doesn't have the same hidden power take off point....

This is the solution we use for powering GPS on these bikes:

You can piggy back off the back of either the beak mounted power socket or the one on the starter motor cover........

Hi Dutchman

I would like to have converted my gps power cable. How I can do to send it to you, and how long will take?

Thanks

Roberto

I cut the power cable that came from GPS warehouse tinned the wires and inserted them directly into the connector at the head stock, there is a thread somewhere on how to do it. I am useless with electrics but this was real easy.

If the post arrives here before midday it gets returned same day.
