Medion GPS
I've got one a Medion PNA100, had it about a year & use it both on the bike and in the car. Used it last year for a trip down to Austria in the car and a 10 day trip on the bike around France. I've found the GPS to be very good, a few minor errors with some of the maps, but nothing too drastic.
Route plotting is easy, bigger SD cards give lots of space for Maps & music. A 512mb card holds all of the UK, strip maps in France, Austria, Germany, & Spain together with 3 - 4 hours of music. On the France trip I ditched all the maps but France and had 10 hours of music on one card. Two cards give me over 20 hours of music.
One the bike I use the standard 'Bike' mount supplied mounted on the handlebar 'brace bar' (R1150GS), using a piece of old inner tube to pad out the gap. The supplied weathercover keeps the rain, that gets past the screen, off. I've done 100's miles in extemely wet weather with no problem, originally used a freezer bag as an extra cover but found it wasn't needed.
The main problem is sun light on the screen rather than rain, but I can live with it. The voice prompts give you plenty of notice of turns etc, so just need a quick look at the screen for visual confirmation.
The MP3 player is good to have on the bike, I know a lot of people don't like music on the bike as they reckon it effects concentration, but I really like it, makes me relax and focus at the same time. Especially good when commuting and on motorways.
I have thought about getting a Quest but to be honest the loss of music whilst I ride is a major downside. I know I could use a separate player, but would lose the voice prompts from the GPS. And yes I know it could all be wired through an Autocom, but they cost more than I can justify to the wife. Better spent on petrol, tyres & ferry crossings
Halfords were selling the PNA100 for £129 a few weeks ago in their 'Sale' so Euro350 at Aldi seems a little steep.
All in all I'd recommend one, at the right price, I've no regrets.
