I like the French picnic stops, such as the one in your picture. So much easier (and cheaper) than finding a cafe in the middle of nowhere. See somewhere nice? Stop and enjoy your lunch there.


Just to the east of this route before you get to Die is the magnificent D93 over the Col du Cabre. Quite possibly my favourite col I’ve ever ridden .
The road is utterly sublime and it features the perfect corner with picnic bench to consume the Pain Bagnat that you bought in Castellane that morning .
Would be easy enough to detour .
