Sorry all, having just spent most of the day updating the French section on my site and faffing with the 360 software (yes, the editing is far from perfect....), I´m too knackered to post a full report. Suffice to say the link below will give you all you need to know. And no, I´m not pushing my website, its just that all the relevant info is there for those that want...

Hi, me and a mate are going UK (Calais most likely) to Epinal. Probably going to do a hotel stop half way there, and halfway back before camping 5 nights in Epinal. Can I please send you a friend request on MRA to gain access to the routes? I might like to edit your day 1 route and nick parts of that. Ta

as listed above by grantmac, you can access all grantmacs routes from his website and then via MRA to download

Nice site. I notice though, that you don't seem to look for accommodation with secure bike parking ? How do you deal with bike security ?

Put a lock on and forget about it is the method I use.

More or less the same as stated above by Siddo. Most of the places we stay at as you can see are pretty much out of the way so in themselves pretty OK regarding security. Most have off street parking or parking right in front of the entrance. And then depending, I’ll put a lock on.

Sure. Absolutely no probs but I think the routes are open to public so you should be able to access them anyway

There’s an entire sub-section of the forum, dedicated to the security of motorcycles, whether in the UK or abroad.

Anyway, what constitutes ‘secure bike parking’? A locked garage, exclusive to your sole use? A drop down barrier? Locked steel gates? More CCTV than the entrance to MI5? Two attack Chihuahuas? Stuck away, around the back of the hotel, near the (often stinking in hot weather) rubbish bins? One CCTV camera, connected to an ancient video recorder and seemingly pointed at your bathroom?

In short, just use a bit of common sense, as most of ‘abroad’ is no different to here at home.

That's why I was asking... Even with a dozen locks on it, and chained to a lamp post... it could still get pinched here !

I was riding in Spain in May... and the mate of mine who organised the tour managed to find a different hotel every night with garaging... took all the worry out of it.

Always go away with your mate. Problem solved…… and don’t forget the pound of butter in your fridge.
