Thank you.
We had planned to have the work done to correct the play in the throttle ‘over the winter’. However, when I went down to Rowles yesterday to collect something, they agreed to do me a favour.
Instead of waiting, they’ll take in the car in August, when I am away for the month in my camper van and do the work then. This means I can drop it off next Tuesday in Alton, on my way back from ferrying a friend to Shaftesbury where his MG C is being tuned. This kills a couple of birds with one stone and makes use of August when I wouldn’t be driving the car anyway. I could of course have driven it to Sid’s and then on to Gedinne, a thought that has only just come on in my head! As the work won’t take a month, I am happy to pay Rowles a fee to store it in my absence.
The car will then be fully fit for its trip to Spa at the end of September and (hopefully) a run or two out until the light goes in mid-to-late November. One thought I’ve had is to repeat an Armistice Day long weekend trip to northern France for 11/11 that I arranged as a Wander a few years ago. Providing it’s not snowing, I can’t see why it shouldn’t work.
As the car is um…. er….. warm (that’s being kind) in the cabin area, it would be great to run it out in the winter, if it’s simply just cold. The things are best used, rather than sitting still for months on end.
