Lifted from this month’s RiDE magazine, this woukd make a decent enough day out.

None of those nasty bumpy Belgian roads either.

I am hoping for an Indian Summer later this month for a four or five day outing to Vianden and the German borders. I never get bored of this region.

As with many routes lifted from magazines, it has to be see in context. Luxembourg was only country three (the other two were Germany and Iceland) in an article aimed at giving bods an idea of places to go to. It never claimed to be a ‘This is the best of….’ .

PS Inevitably, over time some external / third party websites close, move, become corrupted or are not maintained. The ADAC one in number 5 is a good example. My advice would be to tap around in the site to see what pops up. Or, try a brief Google search for something like ‘ADAC Motorrad Luxembourg’. If yiu find something you like (this applies to anything) my suggestion is always to copy and save as much of...

The latest issue of RiDE magazine has an article where they give samples of possible rides in three countries, Germany, Luxembourg and Iceland. The idea behind the article was to give their readers (some of whom might never have been beyond Tesco in Runcorn) some inspiration to go somewhere else.

This is their German suggestion:

Some lovely roads and scenery in Luxembourg and nearby Germany. And everyone who's anyone has a photo of the castle in Vianden taken from the town. Lots of hotels and restaurants in Vianden too. I've stayed in a couple - Hotel Heintz on the main drag into Vianden, and Hotel Petry alongside the river. Heintz has the holy grail of all UKGSers, garage parking for bikes. (Though heaven help you if you want to leave before the Belgians who arrived after you and have blocked you in!)

The Petry has garage parking too, along with the hotel Aal, on the steep hill coming out of town.

The Aal is a vegan’s nightmare.

Being blocked in is what makes me very wary of ever using ‘biker friendly’ hotelier’s garaging.
