Sorry to hear about the all the potential issues with luggage and other stuff affecting the enjoyment of the GS1300.

That's a big PITA for all early adopters - and BMW really cocked this up, no question.

But just wanted to say - slipped out for a quick ride around Devon yesterday and from the moment I left my drive I was astounded about how good this bike is.

Enjoyed hugely, more than my Super Dukes or Super Motos, more than my Speed Triples. Simply fabulous blend of poise and precision.

Does everything I want at any speed. Brilliant for me and how I want to ride!

So far no issues - but no doubt something is on the way for me.

Dumped my ordered Vario luggage early on and replaced with alternative. So no problem - after all it's only to carry stuff and I can't see it on the bike when looking ahead.

Servicing and recalls - another PITA as its a 150 mile round trip to the dealer.

But the bike, the bike - is f**king glorious - so go ride and forget about the niggles and the crap planning and quality control form the accessories dept.

Also forget about the shitty engine note - which is just awful.

Just ride - and smile. because it's a bloody awesome bike.

I was out yesterday for a couple of hours and was trying to decide what's different from the 1250.

Poise! That certainly is a major change. Presumably placing the gearbox underneath the engine lowers the centre of gravity with a big impact on poise.
The top-heavy feature, in certain situations, has been banished. The turn-in needs little effort.
Also, the fuelling seems smoother as is the torque delivery.......although that may be a function of the larger capacity. The engine delivers forward thrust without hesitation.

Well i've never enjoyed riding a bike as much as this one. Just a few tweeks like you would with any bike and it's brilliant. Over 4000 miles and wouldn't swap for anything else.

Have to agree. What a great extended test ride I had on one. Brilliant bike. Trying to work a deal but trade in values on 2 year old GSA's seem to be on the floor at the moment. May wait a year and see if the gap to change closes against ex demo or used

So, what essential mods do I need to get done? Mudguard extension? Tank paint protection? Panniers??

I have a triple black loaded with all the extras including Sky Sports. I had the double bar risers and the handlebar set at the 10-degree upright mark. Nothing else fitted....I tell a lie, plus the side stand foot extender.

First post and first BMW! I’ve only ever had sports and street bikes and never thought about a GS until I test rode one at the ABR festival and loved it. Literally the week later I got lucky and found a fully loaded tramantura 719 on eBay at a great price with only 600 miles and first service, and I’ve so far loved every minute. I can’t believe how planted it feels for such a big bike and so smooth. Looking forward to some longer rides on it next week during a week off. Luggage will be next but I’m hoping the adventure luggage will also fit when available?

I’m in the same boat, sport bikes and track bikes were what I rode….rented an r1200gs for four days south of Spain in 2019. Certain things I didn’t like on it and others were great. Test rode 1300 and will be picking up in oct.

If I read the service sheet correctly, my bike just went in for its first service today, which includes swopping out the fuel pump.
