I know all you long serving East Anglians probobly know about this road but the A1057 out of Watton to Dereham is fooking amazing, talk about tight and twisty with great surface:D:D

I rode it about 10 times today, bloody awesome day:JB

I reckon the best mile or so i have ridden in a very long time?

Only stopped because my bike is in for a service in the morning and i was worried about the mileage:(:(

And guess what? I'm just planning a route from Yorkshire to Ipswich.
Dereham-Watton-Thetford on the 1075 it is then :thumb2

There's equally good roads between York and Ipswich that don't take you as far out of your way as Dereham Tw@.
I know most of the roads between here and there, as I have spent the past decade living in or near Ipswich, Bury St Edmunds, Thetford and running rides for tossers and others down there and have friends up here, and of course now live up here so know some decent routes between the two.
If you'd like me to send you some .gpx routes PM me an email addy.

One of my favourite roads too. Good for "running in" a 125cc 2 stroke. Did you like the flashing black and white arrow signs??

Excellent road:thumb

:topic Adam was that you i saw on saturday 3.00pm @ The Chase traffic lights ??
No mate. Firmly ensconced in Yorkshire at the mo. :)
Probably won't be moving back either but still got the house in Thetford for the moment and the folks are in East Anglia too so we are back down there occaisionally.

:clap:clap :D
Whens your next off road ride ?
Can't say at the mo mate. I came off the WR on Salisbury plain and fractured my humerus, tore my labrum and partially detached my spraspinatus tendon in October and I am still in the repair phase of things so can't take the WR out at the moment. I'm ok on the road where I am 99% certain I won't be lobbing it down the road some time soon, but I daren't hit the dirt where I am 99% certain I will at some stage.:D
Hopefully be back at it by the autumn tho.:thumb2

I got fixated on them the first time I rode through after they were installed. VERY nearly ran up the bank.

Still, a great safety aid :blast

I agree there are some great other roads in EA Adam but this short stretch out of Watton to Dereham is amazing.

I ABSOLUTELY GUARANTEE if you make the effort to go and ride it you will turn around and do it again!

Never said otherwise fella, just that there are loads of equally good roads in EA (many of which aren't so far off route for Tw@'s run down to ipswich), esp in the Southern half of Suffolk and down into Essex, where IMO some are better than Ovington bends, which is just 11 bends and over in a flash (hence the need to ride it again):

Agreed tho, if you want more corners than straights it's the best in that part of Norfolk tho, which has some very fast straight roads (like the rest of the 1075!).

If you want to try some (more) cracking corners tho, head south from Bury.
Try:
B1057 Haverhill to Finchingfield
Unclass Wethersfield to Sible Hedingham
B1058 Castle Hedingham to Bulmer Tye
B1064 Cavendish to Long Melford (One of my faves, race track smooth and little traffic)
B1115 Sudbury to Stowmarket
A1141 Lavenham to Hadleigh
Mill Lane Stowmarket to Needham market (the back road in between and parallel to A14 and B113)
In fact pretty much any of the B roads in Suffolk, Essex and to slightly a lesser extent Norfolk (which for the most poart is nice but not as twisty) are well worth a spin on.
You are spoilt for choice to be honest. :thumb2

A nice selection. I was very pleasantly surprised with the road from Wethersfield to Hedingham. Some excellent twists and turns and pretty good visibility too. :thumb

I don't have a sat-nav Adam. Just a Touratech roadbook that doubles up as a bog-roll holder when camping.
Which is great until one wipes one's bum on tomorrows route and sets off for Marseilles instead of Crapston .:)
If you can e-mail me a map or two it's [email protected]
Cheers.

You don't need a sat nav chap, just use this website and it will show you the routes on google maps:
http://www.gpsvisualizer.com/
Then you can transfer them across as and how you please. Will send them over now....

I hate to say it but they have turned the flashing arrow signs OFF now! :blast
What's the point in that?

Perhaps someone did run up the bank. Very distracting, especially in your peripheral vision.
