I ve been reading a couple of 4 x 4 magazines , to find the best off roady type route to try and put mt GSA through its paces. I tried driving along the lees along the sea front ( grassy bit ) at south shields , but the local police seemed to take a dimmed few of this ..

after an apologie , and a bit of groveling :bow :toungincheek

The officer suggested i tried a couple 4x4 magazines and told me green lanes and byways were the way to go ! :blast

If anyone knows any good spots / Routes local to me ,please let me know as i dont want to get into anymore trouble....:angel

thanks in advance

just gat an OS map,
if 1:50k, you are looking for road/track made of red grosses
if 1:25k its green crosses

I've been doing the same recently with the nicer weather :) fun isnt it

I was a brief member of local trf (for 2 years) and they werent the most forthcoming in showing marked up maps, seemed to the crown jewels only the inner sanctum were allowed to see. One chap did offer a session of map marking at a tenner a head (faded memory maybe exagerated for effect but palms were expected tobe crossed with silver).
Got more info out of a nieghbour who wasnt a member.

Undoubtedly different TRF groups vary in their operation. All will be defensive towards strangers because they are effectively in a campaign war. If you don't ride legal byways, you won't appreciate how hard it is to keep access open for us.
Their routes are not secret to members, its all about what you want and who you ask and they have a website, open to non members, with searchable trails. Better still, join them and do a ride and do a track log .
In my region, the TRF have more rides than any other group that I know. Join them now and help fund the cause.
