It looks like we are going to be a group of 10, so we will split into two groups. Tufty has kindly offered to lead the second group. We will try to maintain a 10min gap between the groups, just to give other trail users a bit of space.
I have the .gpx of the main route if anyone would like a copy, just send me your email address.
The Woodberry Cafe is expecting us at 9.00am. We will also call in at the cafe after the ride for a well earned beverage.
It might be worth bringing a drink along as it will be thirsty work.
See you all tomorrow.

Hello Everyone,
Good to meet you all earlier.
Many thanks for your patience, advice, understanding, and not taking the p**s (too much), as for sure my ambition exceeded my talent, as the saying goes.
I don't know how the guys behind me scored my frequent dismounts, but I must have been improving with all that practice :D Much gratitude for helping up with the bike, and I'm really sorry I slowed you down. Hopefully the show made up for it.
Despite all the offs, I really enjoyed it, and would very much like to do it again, but definitely on a more appropriate bike and/or tyres.
Thanks, Colin for your efforts.
Cheers

Forgot to say, if anyone's interested: I got the bike back ok - I think the leaking coolant issue was the retaining clip on the hose. By the side of the A1 I fashioned a temporary repair with cable ties, topped it up, and I did the 50 odd miles home without the temperature light coming on again.
I'll have a proper look when I've cleaned it, but hopefully just Jubilee clip time when I renew the coolant.

Glad you enjoyed your day, we have all had to start at some point and had the same issues that you had,as they say practice makes perfect, or at least make you better.
Thanks Tetley and Tuffty for a realy enjoyable day, had a blast, thanks again.

Another fantastic day - many thanks to Tetley and Tuffty for organising 👍

Hear hear.. Thanks again Gents.. A great first day out for me on the trails... 😊

Great day out. Really interesting doing it the other way around. Shouldn't make a difference but it really did.

Especially that big step. I'd have pissed that going down. :D

Astrro made the right decision to quit at lunch time. You really wouldn't have like some of the afternoon's lanes with that rear tyre.

This day out was the most attritional so far. I hope all those who had to head home got back safely and live to fight another day.

Thanks to everyone for making it a top day out!

Glad you all had a good afternoon. I managed to get home relatively easily without a clutch, only having to stop twice. It's actually really easy to take off clutchlessly; paddle a bit then into 1st and away. On my bike anyway. New cable is on its way so will be back in action soon.

Thanks again to Tetley and Tufty.

It’s a shame you missed out Kev. See you next time.

Thanks for the organisation. Sorry I was late but the A38 was closed for a vehicle on fire at the Breadsall roundabout, or just off it round the tight corner from the traffic lights at the Derby end. I was doing OK for the first two lanes, even the sand after the Route 6 stop and the big ford under the trees, but that little ford off Water Lane I have no idea or inkling as to what I did wrong - the next thing I knew was I was looking up at people helping.

I rode home with no front brake or mirrors, but made it the 80 ish miles by taking it easy. Ice on my knee, beer and cocodamol sorted my afternoon out for me! I can't ride at that pace, it is obvious. The road sections were way faster than I would normally go trying to keep up after being baulked at a junction. I don't think my bike has done 70 before, not with me on it anyway I had a couple of slides on the tarmac before my off, which should have been a warning, I put it down to the recent rain. I really enjoyed the off road bits though.

Thanks to those who picked me up and sorted me out - Pete and Kevin?
