Green lane/ Trail Exeter Area

hi - I just got myself a r1150gs adventure and would be interested in a bit of newbie green laning if something was being arranged, im in okehampton and done a bit a few years ago on a 450 yamaha so dont know if the 1150 might be a bit to much of a handfull?

You missed the Exmoor event where a 1200GSA and an 1100GS did the trail ride with us. I wouldn't trail ride a big GS anymore though, yes their ok for places like Salisbury Plain and nice forest tracks but if you want to start riding Devon lanes again after a layoff then I wouldn't choose an 1150GS to do it on.

You are though in a fantastic county for legal trails and a quick look at an OS map will reveal dozens and dozens of them.... again not all GS'able though.

People are welcome to visit me in Exminster, or as part of a pub ride, and i'll point you in the right direction of do-able GS off road trails in the East Devon area. I'm currently on road tyres and wouldn't choose to do them, and i certainly wouldn't do them on the big GS if they weren't bone dry. All the trails i can show you have been done by me in the past on K60's and TKC's with no problems... other than Trippy and his glass ankles!!!:aidan

Oh, and you'll require OS maps OL20, OL28 and 110 for me to mark the trails for you. You could get a 1:50,000 scale but it's not easy to see the trails in detail, which isn't great if you don't know them.

there are some great lanes around east devon, some of which I do on the gs with battlewings fitted , but only during the dry spells, once the lanes get wet I use my 250 yam . would be interested in a bit of a get together for a ride altho it would be the yam for the foreseeable due to the poxy weather :blast
