Green Leopard or Ultimate Ears

I am looking at getting some moulded ear plugs with the inbuilt speakers. I have litened to all the sales pitch for both but wondered if there was any feedback from users on this forum. I know that the Green Leopard's are cheaper and have less reliability issues but it seems that there is nowhere local to me (Kent) to have the mouldings done

I have just ordered the ultimate ears, but the airtube ones, hoping that they work ok, they werent to expensive

Got UE in ear monitors,quality, taken a little time to get used to but well pleased with them,big bucks but worth it imho..........

been thinking of making my own for some time now in fact everytime i use a tube of silicone i am tempted to squeeze it into my ears you could fill both your ears right up and have the daddy of all ear plugs for minimal cost ,,,anyone else thought of doing this

Depends which bit of Kent you are in, but I'm in Cambs and am the Green Leopard agent round these parts if that helps.

I'd also like to point out that you need to make sure you're comparing like for like. The reliability issues with the UE monitors is to do with the electric cable going into the plug. To the best of my knowledge the air tube system they use is just as reliable as ours. I also know that UE are working on the wired monitor issue.

I bought some regular silicone ear plugs from ultimate ear,Had the impressions done at the NEC,ear plugs arrived in the post as they said but and heres the but the left plug would not even go into my ear and the right did not feel correct,After contacting them it was agreed that I would wait until the January GMEX show to see them because they had a stand there,I went to the show to see them and they were not there, after contacting them and receiving a load of verbal tosh as to why they wernt there I was told to post back to them.They sent them back a couple of weeks later and whilst at a push they go into my ears they feel as if they are penetrating the ear far too much,at no time would they entertain the notion of a refund,so £65.00 of plugs went into bin and will never deal with the shisters again.Very poor shoddy customer care(customer dont care i think).I am aware of what silicone ear plugs are supposed to feel like because I have another pair from a different company.So no I wouldnt recommend them as a company to deal with.

Hi,

I have a set of ultimate ear headphones and been using them for about a year. I did have to send them back for repair but they came back much improved and toughended.

I love them to bits and think they are a great piece of kit and would happily purchase them again.

Never tried the leopard kit so can't comment on them.

Hi,

have UE monitors too. Ordered them at Goodwood. Had to send back twice for what in the end i believe was a faulty minijack plug. They were sent back with a sleeved wiring, which one one side is great on the motorbike (nearly impossible to get caught in zippers), but renders them useless for anything else (without a helmet the rubbing of the sleeve produces sounds in the ear). With helmet on though they fit properly (just 'pop' into position), excellent outside dBa reduction, great sound.

Have two sets of UE monitors...latest being the new soft compound...very comfortable.

Best way I can describe em to anyone who hasn't tried them is that if I set music level on my mp3 (via autocom) so it is JUST bearable (ie TOO LOUD), by the time I'm doing 90ish, all the bass is lost and the helmet noise drowns out the music. With the UE's I can have the volume set at the minimum setting, (ie not loud enough) but can still hear it perfectly no matter what speed I'm doing.

Says more about helmet noise than earplugs really but gives an idea.

There were two stands at the NEC right next to each other (Neither Green Leopard?). I was a very sceptical ear plug user as having tried normal ones years ago nearly fell off after 50 yards. No sense of balance at all. The people I used made moulded ones with a filter in, AND did so on the basis that if I tried and didn't liek would offer a total refund if we posted back the moulds and the plugs. So gave it a go.

Have used them three of four times now and am a convert. Filter thingy seems to cure the balance issue and they make a huge difference.

lost me there I thougth it was a straight forward question?

to put in simple terms for earplugs without speakers,

whats the advantage of the silicone moulded type as opposed to disposable foam ones, from what I have read the foam type have a better noise reduction properties
