Grip Puppies and heated handlebar grips ?

probably a stupid question but...

How do I get the grip puppies on to my bars, The guards need to come off- do I just loosen the torx and pull the guard forward whilst I install?

What size torx is holding the guard on?

Yup, loosen the guard, take out the bar end and slide it on. Can't remember what size it is off hand....

i took my handguards off -2 torx screws, as they were in the way, it only takes a minute on a 1200.
[ i have ordered a spare set, great cheap bit of kit and it takes for ever to get a set should i get another bike ] :augie

is there anyone else that sells these, the guy on eblag seems to have some bad feedback.ref the puppies.

I've had them on two 1200s and they work fine. Main reason I got them was to preserve the expensive-to-replace stock grip. Heat does take longer to navigate through the foam but my hands stayed warm on the day I experienced a high of 46 F and a low of 23 F.

I *think* the torx size is a T55.

Use hairspray instead of soap to put them on - it saves getting foamy fingers when it rains. DAMHIK

I got them direct from SportTouring website. When they hadnt arrived after a week or so I phoned and he explained he was awaiting a delivery but that I wouldnt be charged until despatch. They got here eventually. He also sells on eBay but you'll be charged straight away on there.....

Yep had them on my F800st and swapped them over to my GS. T55 bar end bolt and yes it does take longer to warm through the heated grip but if you like something larger to hold on to then worth the downside :toungincheek

Fitted mine this evening and are a great mod to the bike. Cancelling the indicator button seems so much easier for me and the extra comfort is great. Would recommend 100%:thumb2:thumb2:thumb2:thumb2:thumb2

I got my grip puppies from sport-touring as reccomended (thanks)

Massive improvement, no issues with heated grips...

Only thing is I have never fitted grips to handlebars... I didnt have any hair-spray and wasn;t sure as to how much washing up liquid to use...

I have definately put too much on...:augie

yes until you go out in the rain :augie :comfort

Picture the scene, Black BLACK Forest last year, 2 of us connected with Scala 2, in torrential rain, been riding for 5 hours, water everywhere..down your back, soaked arsh etc, you know the feeling and still 100 miles to go..

I shouted down the mike " Got a problem, loosing power, bike won't pick up, throttle not working, in the Shite!"

We pulled over, I hit the kill switch, then tried again, bike started but no throttle response, my buddy came over and blipped it, " You dickhead, the grip is spinning round, that's why you got no throttle"

"I'll get me coat" came the reply!

So remember children, in extreme rain if you loose power it's likely to be the grip puppies slipping!!!:thumb

any fix for this? i ride in the rain...:blast

take the puppies off and re-apply without w/up liquid??

Don't panic!

Just roll them back from each end in turn and thoroughly rinse underneath. Just like your Momma told you. :toungincheek

As long as you use something water soluble to get them on you're ok.

Not had Balders problem even in torrential rain but if they keep slipping; how about a few tiny drops of silicone sealant on the throttle side grip?
