Hi I am a new East Anglian GSER, having purchased my F800 in September of last year from Lind. I love my Bike as it does everything (well not quite everything!) I would like it too.

This is my first Thread and I do make an apology for moaning.... BUT..... I needed to go Lind for my First Service today, and to have an emergency re-call carried out.

I had booked this up weeks ago, and whilst I admit to having missed my first appointment, I was very dissapointed with the Service. Whilst perusing the gorgeous machines in the showroom, as our Service adviser was busy, I had a chance of a coffee (v nice). The Service Adviser (SA) then appeared, and was obviously involved in a long conversation with a customer who seemed to have something concerning him about his bike. The SA looks at me with a pained expression at the same time as pulling the phone away from his ear, completely disregarding what his customer was saying. Eventually he was able to serve me. It was a routine service and re-call. I said that I was concerned with the fact that my clutch plate must be wearing at an alarming rate, because I had in 4000 miles had to re-adjust the cable twice. Should this be cause for concern? SA..'I will mention it to the technician' was his retort. Whilst writing adjust clutch on Job Card. He kind of missed the point of my concern which was why was the clutch wearing so quickly? I do not cover my Clutch or slip it in any way!! In fact the cable at this rate will run out of adjustment very soon.

Anyway He would not lend me a bike because I did not have my D/Licence. Fair play, but at no time was I told that I would need a licence in order to have a courtesy bike. And on recounting the story in the Car Park with a fellow GSER, he told me that only last week there was someone in there with no licence, and that they had phoned the DVLA for the relevant Ins information. I was Miffed to say the least.

Maybe they had an off-day, maybe they were busy. But I will be looking to buy my panier set elsewhere and have my Service work also carried out elsewhere.

Grrrrrrrr!!!!

They can make a call to dvla but this usually costs around £10 which you would be expected to cover. I've been to Linds just once as my local dealer let me down big time and I found them to be a breath of fresh air. Fantastic service and bent over backwards to help me out at short notice. The blond lady who I understand has since left was a huge :thumb too. All in all we all have something to gripe about from time to time but I think you will find more positive than negative on here about Linds, unlike my local 'specialists' :augie

LOL .. easily upset!!

Yep I would have paid the DVLA £10 to have had the job sorted, rather than re-book, and re-travel.
I am genuinely worried about my Clutch, not an insignificant repair should it be faulty.

I do think he was busy.. But so am I, and a tad more attention, an offer of phoning the DVLA, concern over my clutch and I would have been a happy bunny.

I do not want my **se licked, but I would have probably spent £1000 on some paniers.

Feck me for £1000 you can have a proper set of panniers from metal mule that will last longer than the first time your bike falls over and can be remove in 10 seconds not 15 minutes. On top of that the rack is not made of cardboard

I've had two services done at Lind and have been very happy with the everything both times.

It sounds to me like the SA may have misunderstood your concern about the clutch wear, in which case it may have been a good idea to explain further what you meant. BTW, when you collected the bike did you get any input from the technician in response to the SA asking him? If not, did you ask?

Sometimes people don't pay proper attention when we try to tell them something and sometimes we may not express ourselves as clearly as we think. Either way, if it's clear our message hasn't been received, it's usually a good idea to try again rather than assume that people just don't care. Naturally, I've never done anything like that! :augie

Unfortunately I was unable to have a Courtesy Bike, so I came away and have as yet to re-book!!

GRIPE OVER!!

Re-booked and a professional service was proferred!!

Praise where it is due....

Service completed and they could not have been more professional.

Happy Bunny :bounce1

Just a shame they won't let me test ride a bike there yet. Need to have my licence for a bit longer. While I understand their reasoning I want to spend money dammit!! :nenau

I went to Lind a couple of weeks ago to see if they could match all the locks on my panniers and topbox. They did it and changed hardly anything and were very professional.

Planned to get my bike services there too, but was easier at my local shop only as its closer and they are very good.

But, I would recommend Lind.
