Group test - GS WC v KTM GT v Multistrada v 1000XR......In Scotland

I changed from a Multi to a GS, mainly because I found the Multi too unreliable/temperamental for me. Yes, the GS is slower, it lacks the top end crazy, but some of this is offset for me by the quick shifter, and in real world use it is, for all intents and purposes, no slower, and much better around town etc.

I tested a 1200 GS WC and an S1000XR today, and absolutely loved them both. They both had the quick shifter on, I thought it was a fantastic gizmo and would definitely have it on any bike in the future. I rode the GS first and was blown away by how fast it was after getting off my 09 800 GS, the engine was bloody brilliant!

Then I rode the XR, and had to of course recalibrate what I thought was fast - holy shit!!! It was a hoot to ride, but I found it slightly cramped after the GS, and my dodgy knees and hip couldn't live with one in the real world - plus I think I'd either get banned or fire myself into a hedgerow somewhere!

Like others have said, it'd have to be the GS for a real world day to day ride, tho if I could afford both, I'd love an XR in my garage for blast out fun!!
