GS 1100 running richer than oprah.

one old feeler gauge, cant believe it would make a noticeable difference ? i have seen those "sets" with the little tabs used on the youtube vids but didnt think it was mandatory. how would it better the outcome ?

edit..... just seen the advert for the feeler blades at moto works along with the explanation of why to use them, every day is a school day.
My foreman told me the always use two sets of feeler blades method,

Telling me that the arm rocking on the shaft could give incorrect clearances when the engine is hot

you are basically eliminating all the possibilities

60C difference between the heads:eek:

As I said earlier, what are the temperatures of each cylinder or rocker box cover.

vague recollection that my rocker boxes are about 80c.
at that time i was checking the temp from the exhaust headers next to the exhaust mounting studs. will check the rocker covers next time.

Wow .after waiting for the foul weather to pass and going over everything again and putting new plugs in, the weather finally let up and allowed for a decent 100 mile test.many,Many thanks to drfarkoff, Not sure if it was science or witchcraft but the bike is now getting almost 20km per litre ! Double the amount I was getting when I first bought it and found it was running ruff.weeks in my freezing garage paid off and now very happy with bike, rideing today brought back so many memories of my previous 75th anniversary that I had.
