Hi All :thumb
Just trying to get a little info about a GS1150. As the title suggests I have put a six speed gearbox(R1150RT and Arm) in my already heavily modded 1100GS ,works a treat and before any body asks if it went straight in ,OH NO:!!
Well its back on the road and all OK other than far to much sag at the rear,I have Ohlins shocks fitted and I have put an eye where the fork was to take the 1150RT arm,I know the mount on the arm is nearer the swing arm pivot than my old arm however my 1100GS spring is bigger than the 1150 spring so I was not expecting so much sag(Reload is full on) my question to you guys out there is ,can any one tell me the distance on the top rail of the sub frame (1150GS) where it mounts to the engine, and the upper shock mount, from bolt center to center would be great,it must be different to mine. Cheers!!!

zorg?

the 5 speed gearing is far superior to the 6 speed so why?
also what model bike 6 speed box did you fit?
and the springs i think your talking about are the same for 1100 and 1150, so you winding the ''preload'' has just squashed your shock spring anyway. i realise you said you have ohlins, whats the numbers on the springs?
but what rear end are you running? are you talking about the torque arm?

im not 100% sure what the hell your talking about to be honest. nor what you have butchered onto your bike.

bet you dont have pictures:nenau

howdee tho:)

Hey cheers for the reply all,
Please less of the Butchering !! I don't do Butchering! and you haven't even seen my bike or my work.
My old 5 speed had seen its day,it had had a hard life and I wasn't going to put another in when I can have that nice big top cruising gear,I do more distance than enduro riding, the early 5s where terrible boxs,Im surprised mine lasted as long as it did,on tick over the cogs sounded like they where trying to get out.
The spring is not the same as the 1150GS, the 1150 Gs actually runs a lighter spring than I have, that is why I have this delamer and until I get this measurement I can not eliminate it as the problem.
Oh I have lots of pics! Catch ya latter.

Welcome Zorg, I'll move this to the 1100/1150 section, you may get more replies :thumb

Seems like you know what you are doing - swapping gear boxes willy nilly :)

Can you clarify exactly what you want measuring (pics are always helpful or even a pen and ink drawing). Will then pop out with my ruler.

Hey thanks for all the interest everyone,Im new to these forum things I'm going to check out how to put pics up soon so ya can have a look.
the measurement I am looking for is the center of the bolts that holds the top tube on the rear sub frame(that the seat and stuff is fixed to) to the engine, and the upper shock mount(center ) its a bit hard the get an exact measurement but and idea would be very helpful thanks,in the meantime I'm going to check out how to navigate this site a little better so as not to look a wally! thanks !!!!!
