GS 1150 ADV CENTRE STAND RATTLE

Had a strange rattly/chattery type feeling when going over uneven roads for a while now. Its not an audible rattle more - you can feel it through the bike when going over uneven road surfaces.

I tracked it down to my centre stand and tightened everything up. The chattering was much reduced but still there.

Today I got an extra strong zip tie and ziptied the center stand up tight to the underside of the bike and all the chattering has disappeared.

Im guessing that maybe the springs have lost their strength and allowing the stand to move more than it should over uneven surfaces, the bump stop is pretty worn too.

New springs and bump stop have been ordered from motorworks.

Anyone else had this?

I tracked it down to my centre stand and tightened everything up.

What did you tighten ?.

Did you tighten the long main stand bolts that run through the stand and stand bracket and bolt together, or did you just tighten the cover bolts

I had a similar rattle and thought it was the centre stand but tracked it down to the sump plate rattling at the back after the rubber bungs had split - but sounds like your rattle is definitely centre stand if you have tied it up and it disappears.

Sometimes the arm which the bumps stop rests against (on a Y piece) gets bent up.

........i have now and its much better!! thankyou for that little nuggett of info

Also checked the stop on my y piece and it was slightly bent so sorted that too
