Every time I go over a sharp bump the bloody center stand rattles like hell, does not do it all the time it just depends on the bump.
Not really bothered me until today, went round a small roundabout and hit a pot hole and the bloody stand hit the deck, nearly sh*t myself.

Anyone else had this problem??

Would a new set of springs cure this rattling???

or is there something else I could try ??

That does rather sound as if the springs are tired - or maybe one of them is broken/missing. Another possibility is that the rubber bump-stop might have gone AWOL. That would cause rattling and would also allow the stand to flap around a bit more, possibly resulting in it hitting the ground as you describe.

You could perhaps give it a waggle and see whats loose. That would point you in the direction of a solution.

Had one of my centre stand bolts sheared in half over the winter... could be worth a look at... M10 C/S 25mm lg...

I could not get the same noise by doing that, but will look into it more closely

Have you lost the rubber "bumper thingy"?

Will take a look

Not sure if it's the same with the 1200s, but on the 1150's the ABS setting/resetting itself (over bumps) used to make a clanking noise which some riders were convinced came from a loose centrestand.

Just a thought.............:thumb
