Centre stand removal

I have slight rust on my pannier frames, hazard of living by the sea, which I am going to have spray painted and I was hoping to do the same with my centre stand.

I came across the below video on YT. Has anyone tried this technique successfully? Where would I get 'repair washers' screwfix?

Yes I've used the washer method on a couple of bikes ( not gs) and found it works well .

Pennies work too. Better with long hook tool as well
. Comes off quite easy, but trickier to get back on. You can also use a ratchet tie down around the back tyre to stretch spring. Watch the knuckles?! lol
