Why bother on hexhead, just had my clocks off for some work and they ain't that simple to remove, also in the 10 years of the 1200's being around I don't remember any mention of Hexhead clocks being nicked on this site. It appears to be a new problem that arrived with toilets

Looong tread about nicked clocks on the 1200 not just new WC, do a search for various fixes and problems caused. One guy had his bike off road for months as BM couldn't supply new clocks.

I have a 2mm aluminium plate on my screen bracket. It had to be filed carefully to slip under the side plate tops. Originally I had zip ties at the top but two M4 dome head screws look much better. A cut out in the middle clears the clock brackets & cable connector.
It makes fitting or removing the clocks all but impossible with the screen on and fiddly with the screen off.
My longer version carries two small instruments. I have a voltmeter and oil pressure.

Mine is a simple flat sheet. Wire brush finished and lacquered. There is no cover over the front side to hide wiring etc. I also drilled & tapped two M4 holes into the top of the screen bracket. Neater than ties or P clips.
It slides into place then the clocks are fitted. Curved nose pointy pliers help to fit the clips. The screen mount nuts are awkward to hold while refitting the screen. but the plate and screen will stop a thief easily whipping off the C clips and having the clocks away.

I haven't searched but in 11 years of GS ownership the first I heard of clocks going was on the WC's Never heard of hexhead clocks being tampered with. Perhaps it's different down there in London town.

Hexhead clocks are not worth much on 2nd hand market £100-200 several at £125 on eBay at the mo,versus lc £300 + ? I could swallow that if mine ever got nicked a £50 bracket no thanks I don't think early GS is or ever has been a problem.
