Hi guys,

Have a 2016 GS LC that I bought last summer, currently has BMW head guards fitted, however I would like to fit engine & upper bars, possibly with auxiliary lights too.

Can anyone recommend from experience a good set up for both bars and lights? BM have said £500 to supply and fit their lights which seems really expensive.

Any help or advice greatly appreciated. :okay

Have Wnderlich bars on the RT which are very good, as for lights look under a thread under the "RT Tourers" section as someone has got some off of fleabay with good results.

Lights.

Durite led's are good gear. Quality gear without the BMW/ Denali/ Clearwater price tag. These are about £45 each in black, or £25 each in white.
Wired in to the back of the aux socket via a switch. The can-bus switches the circuit off after a few minutes if you forget. I've got them on a Rugged Roads light at but they would be easy enough to fit to the crash bars.
You can get them with a clear spotlight type lens or foglight/worklight type lenses . Mine are the worklight ones with a bit of black tape in the middle to take the brightness down slightly.
There's a thread in the hexhead section with eBay links to the various lights .

Just bought my first GS and fitted SW Motech upper and lower bars. Took about 3 hours steady and £200 for top/£200 for bottom.

Fitted some really cheap spots for now clamped to upper bar but will buy better once i find some.

I have Touratech upper and lower bars bought from Nippys give excellent protection for the bike.Dave

Agree Touratech bars if you are going for upper and lower. Not cheap but quality.
A friend of mine is upgrading his bike to a 1250 so may be selling his Touratech uppers and lowers. Let me know if you want details. I know they cost over £500 !

Hi and welcome, Heed engine bars are well made, full set about. £290, and I have tested then. Led spots from EBay there are plenty, wired via relay and separate switch won’t give a problem with canbus. Good hunting.

Guys,

Thank you so much for taking the time to respond, all really useful information. Will post a pic and info when I do the work, looks like I can probably get bars and lights for the £500 BMW want just for lights !!

Thanks again

These are the full Touratech bars before removal this week.
If interested I will get you a price. They were over £500 but I am sure they will be less than half that!

Hi Neil,

Yes please if you can get me a price on them, also where they are located.

Best,

John

Ok, I’ll give him a bell tomorrow. I know he had the lower bars last year and the uppers only a couple of months ago. Bike now sold. I would guess about £250 mark but will get a price...
Located Staffs.

£250 for the Touratech upper and lowers plus postage, or collection fine.
Drop me a PM and I’ll pass you the details.
