GS 1200 WC

As per the original 1200, the first year or two's bikes will be unreliable test mules and you'll be the poor bugger paying your hard earned to iron out BMWs problems for them.

I heard exactly the same advice from tossers of this parish when the 12 came out, ignored it, and ended up with the biggest pile of unreliable shite I've ever swung a leg over.

Avoid.

The R&D they have done on this bike is more than any other manufacturer has ever done, so I'm confident that it will be a very good bike.:beerjug:D

So already there are threads on here re:-

And no doubt others re other potential problem areas, radiators for one.

I kinda agree with Johno23 first year ownership could be interesting :aidan and having competition doesn't make a flying fig of difference, plenty of wannabees who must have the latest version, just look at the apple mobile phones.

Me I had one of the first 1200's and then the same with the ADV, but am in no rush to change, I see the new WC as a step backwards from a current ADV, so will wait and see if a new WC ADV arrives, I then may well change. But will be interested to give it a test ride next summer sometime but am in no rush.

I quite fancy the new 1200 is there going to be a GSA version? I tested the 1600 its very similar to the K1200GT deffo a long distance bike.
The clutch \ gearbox is crap compared to a Jap bike and the engine has the same whistle type of whine at idle. I was in BMW puerto banus today and they had one in bits with the gearbox cassette on the floor

The footrest issue is no different to the current bike, my feet touch the sidestand while I'm up on the pegs, it all depends how you position your feet on the pegs:rob

Re the mirrors, what do they have to do with reliability?:nenau they are a new style, the same as the 800GS, as BMW saw the picture of my bike and realised that I know more than they do about mirrors:aidan

Time will tell, but I'm not worried one jot:pullface:D

And off course we how have :-

Different brand new bike fighting against very stiff competition ruled unfit for purpose.

Right, that's it. Order for WC is now cancelled, I'll stick to the push bike.:blast:D This is all too worrying:comfort:D

Enjoy the new bike when it comes and I will resist telling you about the brand new 2004 1200gs that I ended up giving back to the dealer :aidan

Normally I'd agree, but IMO things will be different this time (or hope!). When the 1200 was originally launched in 2004, there was hardly any real competition for BMW, however, this time, there are so many other alternatives.

If BMW get this one wrong, it will cost them dearly.:rob The R&D they have done on this bike is more than any other manufacturer has ever done, so I'm confident that it will be a very good bike.:beerjug:

If it isn't, and mine turns out to be an old nail, I'll report back on here, tail between my legs!:D

What's wrong guys , there seems to be a lot of self opinianated dream stealers, and lemon suckers on here,
So you dont like , cant afford, wouldnt buy a new one!,,,, That's what makes us different, we all want different things.
In order to insult us , we have to give a fk about your opinions sadly we don't, so chill out or go moan somewhere else:flag

I have enough faith in the workers of the Fatherland to dive in and order one. Just wish that Oz BMW would give us some idea of when we can expect to see 'em here.
My 2004 R12000GS has been an absolute delight, giving me the confidence to expect the LC to be a bloody ripper. Sadly though, the price will be jacked up to the absolute maximum, as they usually do. We suffer badly here from ripoff importers and dealers. Needs a big shake up. Come on BMW, have a look at what is happening! $15,000 in USA, $22,000 :robhere and our currency is equal.

I would love a new kettle but cant afford the cost.

Thankfully I'm really happy with my 2008 GSA, so in good time I may well be going for a used new model. Hopefully by then there will be an ADV model.
