So....:(

Decided to take my old girl for a run today, running lovely...:)

But...:augie

She's smokin like a good un, noticed at the lights at idle and also on the throttle.

Anyway checked the oil, its low but 5/7mm above minimum.

The o/s plug is dry, black/grey but no sooting.

The n/s plug is black but slightly wet ( oil )

I think I know the answer.. Rings or valve guides ? :nenau

Did you have it stored for a while on the sidestand? Are you sure its oil smoke not fuel?

I would take it out for an Italian tune up for a good 1/2 hour or so then check for smoke again after that.......can take a surprising amount of time to burn off any oil deposited in the exhaust for example....

But for info - blueish (oil) smoke at idle and under load is generally rings. Blueish smoke when you come back on the throttle after overrun is generally valve guide seals/valve guides......there can be exceptions to this but I am generally speaking...

I had the same problem recently with my airhead after it was stood unused for a while, went for a long ride and it is okay now.

How many miles on it?

It's showing 26.5 km.

Is it the original clock ? Don't know but the frame, original bar grips condition etc would suggest its correct.

Would it smoke with low oil ?? I did about ten miles only noticed it towards the end of my ride so cut it short.
Bike lives on the side stand but on a block so its pretty much upright. Old 911s sometimes do a puff of smoke on start up ( ie flat six) due to oil in the cylinder /piston position , time sat etc, but that clears in a few seconds.
