gs-911 cheap alternative DIY

Yeah I totally agree with teh pricing scale, I think they'd ship hundreds more each year IF the price was less... BUT :bounce1

Like APPLE they really have spent a hell of a lot of money on R&D and on supporting people like me who give something back to the community as a whole, like I said before when I tried to look in to designing the same type of system I was taken a back at just how hard BMW have made it to interface with the bike, let alone trying to find out what stupid error codes meant what, and then you have to look at each bike so the £'s or rather rands add up really very quickly...

Thanks for the reply..
My bike idles fine but when I put it underload it dies like it's starved of fuel?
I'm hoping the diagnostic tool will give me some answers
Any ideas guys

Sorry Bendy but with Live data facility on GS911 you can watch what is going on you don't need to interrogate the ECU implicitly!

If you see a high lamda value, air intake temp very much out Engine temp incorrect or ECU calling for the idle control valve to open or close and still failing you have a place to start

Its very hard to corrupt the ECU but a crap battery and voltage spikes will fuck it eventually
Nope - it needs an ECU analyser. ;)

Thanks for your reply..
Alternatively is there a BMW specialist I could take it too to get it running?
Am I right in presuming the gs911 won't tell me a coil is down or a plug etc?

The 911 will tell you lots of things if you know how to interpret them

Correct about coil it can;t know that the coil is broken as it has no monitor for that "But" if you find a Lamda on that side is out of spec is it that lamda probe or a breaking down coil producing an over rich exhaust mixture?

Also there is too much reliance on electronics these days really it pays to go back to old fashioned diagnostics

remove the coil pack check the condition If it's heavily rusted it could be breaking down under load Whats the plug colour like ?? (note 1200's tend to be very white as a norm)

Better to do all the simple things first and then look at more complicated ones! :thumby:

Can I take you up on your offer regarding questions? How do I use my gs-911 to change from miles to km and back again?

Ok so my friend has a texa navigator...
Will this find my fault?
Regards rob

I was a very early adopter of the GS911 when they first appeared via biketec.ie and have easily saved more than its purchase price through being able to service, diagnose and maintain my bikes and those of my friends, some of whom have now bought their own units.

In my opinion, it's a real bargain. Anyone who thinks otherwise clearly doesn't own one.
