Hi

Anyone near Essex/Suffolk happen to have a GS-911 diagnostic tool, I think I have a fault on my 800GS and before I get shafted by a dealer would like to know if there is anything wrong or if I am just an idiot.

Thanks in advance

Might be helpfull if you told us what's wrong first. Someone may be able to help you.

Err... your in London you lucky git...Just down the road from you is a miserable git called Steptoe..( gs shop )..He wont rip you off and he will take the piss...He has been voted the best independent for bmw in ride mag ( I think )..
Anyhoo he's a genius with all things gs..
he lives in the 1150 section of this web site..

The problem, I had the bike running the other day just ticking over on centerstand and it stalled, did not think too much about it at the time.
Today parked bike on side stand, after a minute it stalled again, then did not want to start until I switched the ignition on/off again.
What I did notice was the gear selector was alternating between N/2/N/2/N/2, so I am thinking there is a problem with the switch.

Hi there

Im near to you and I have a GS911 tool so give me a call on 07894 988610 if you still want it looked at.

Mark

It sounds like what happened to me -

http://www.ukgser.com/forums/showthread.php?t=316290

- Potentiometer (Part No. 23007711960 special order) fails £120. £30 labour for recalibration.

Mine did the jumping around thing before it failed completely. On ADV they blame it on water ingress however after pulling my failed one apart it was just poor design. A blob of araldite one the retaining ring on the new one may save you having the same problem over.

Best

From looking around & talking to people it sounds like it is the petontimeter (or whatever it's called) I'm going to take it out tomorrow & have a look at it (curiosity) read somewhere it could be water ingress, it's been through a few fords in its time, is it something likely to stop the bike completely or just be irritating ?
