Why are the gearbox's so clunky on BMW's? After coming from a Jap bike the gearbox on my Adv. is agricultural (or is it just mine)

Because they are built out of Teutonic girders, forged from the remains of King Tiger tanks.

I think it's just the way they are. And no, it's not just yours.
They all do that, Sir :D

Ok ok ok it's the same as yours, the funny thing is I ride a zx10r and now I am use to the BMW box I like it

gear box on mine is great! And I am used to sport bikes, first needs the nack:D but thats all goes in smooth no clunking.

4500 miles on a 10 plate DOHC Adventure and my gearbox is sweet. Had Jap bikes all my life and not all of them had good gearboxes, Honda in particular had terrible gearboxes.

Agricultural thats exactly the way i described the gsa after my test ride.
The thing is thats the reason i bought one too :D
Never rode anything with so much character :thumb Luv it:bounce1
Must admit i do now use the clutch on the way up the box which i never bothered with on previous bikes.

The BMW gearbox runs at engine speed along with the clutch. Most other bikes run the gearbox at a vastly different speed through the primary gears. This will make a difference.
