Hi All

Just got a Sept 05 1150 Adventure with all the bits fitted.

When I went to see the bike first time, I enquired if the tool kit was with the bike. The dealer checked, and it was missing, no worries, he would get one ASAP from the local BMW dealer.

The dealer has checked with CW's which is where the bike came from when new, and they have said that the 1150 Adventure version did not come with a tool kit. I got him to double check, same answer. The Standard 1150 GS apparantly does come with a kit.

Is this true ? can other Adventure owners please let me know if their bike came with a tool kit please.

The manual says that the Adventure has a tool kit strapped to the underside of the seat, I have the strap but know kit. Kit should also have a tubless puncture kit, again according to the manual.

Can anyone help, this does not sound right to me.

One other question, there is also a sort of bag thing strapped to the frame under the seat with a hole in it. Any idea what this is for please ?

Thanks guys.

Nick.

Mine has one

Mine's an 02 reg - has a toolkit in a black vinyl roll fixed under the seat - sound familiar?

Now I have to ask myself, would B*W fit a strap if there was no toolkit...?

Mine's a March 05 GSA, and when it was delivered it had the new reduced toolkit so I asked the dealer if I could keep the one from my 03 GSA. So it did have a toolkit, albeit a smaller one than previously.

Regards,

Charles

Mines an 03 Adv,
it was second hand from SPC,I noticed the toolkit was missing, pointed it out to the salesman so they supplied one FOC.

My '05 Adventure came with a "tool kit" I replaced most of it with proper i.e. non-rubber tools. It is surprising how much you can fit in the o.e. vinyl bag

Tool kit - Fool kit

My 05 GSA did have a tool kit , if you can call it that - so little in it now it's next to useless - should have kept mine from previous GS

When I traded my 02 ADV for my March 05 model, I kept my altered seat and therefore the tool kit.
There was no tool kit on the 05.
Mike.

I've got a Sept 05 ADV , it came with some plastic with some bent bit's of metal inside . :mmmm If you want it you can have it , cause it's sh*te .
The best thing to carry with you is a Steptoe ( essential on long runs) :D

Mines an 04 Adventure (August) and came with a full kit of assorted stuff including the puuncture repair.

IIRC they started putting the reduced kit in shortly after I took delivery, probably around October/November of 04.

54 reg purchased start of Feb O5 - very comprehensive tool kit, however my dealer told me the new (55) Bikes would either have no tool kit or a very small tool kit as B*W were trying to reduce costs

July 05 GSA, came with a fisher price screwdriver, 2 fuses, and a spanner :mmmm

Hounded BMuu customer service for full toolkit, recieved as a warrenty claim, (no puncture kit though), not as good as the one I left on me old GS I traded in :mmmm

Yep Mine's an 04 Adventure from SPC and the toolkit was missing when I got it. I rang them to explain and I asked if I should've got a kit with the bike. They said yes and a full kit turned up in the post two days later :thumb

Yeah, new Adventures came with tool kits, the later ones with a reduced number of tools. By the look of some of the posts here, it will be a bit of a lottery if a used bike still has one. (Robbing B'stards)

My October 05 Adventure came with a two Allen keys, two torx keys, a suspension 'C' spanner, a double ended screwdriver and two bits of tube. Oh and four loose fuses. No puncture outfit or wheel spanner.
When I mentioned the wheel spanner to the dealer, I was told that BMW no longer supplied them in toolkits, because 'someone' in the States had removed a wheel and not replaced it correctly, had an accident and then sued BMW.
I then offered to buy a wheel spanner and was told that BMW no longer supplied them bacause 'someone' in the States etc......etc.
I must also confess that all this happened in late February/early March, 'cos I didn't open the toolkit 'til I was at the Rhino and a handlebar mirror came loose.
Dealer was 'Prestige' who in the past have been absolutely straight with me regarding this sort of thing.
No doubt if anyone knows different to the above they'll let me know.

Feckmeridgid. It's a wonder they have the balls to leave the wheels on.

I wonder if they have considered stopping selling bikes and cars in case someone has an accident with one and sues them?
