GS and Rider having fun!

Except for longer straights the GS is a very capable bike on the track.Especially on the brakes due to TL you can take real sportbikes!But I'm done taking the GS there.Especially on Milchelins who tend to give you no warning before they let go when they get hot...totaled my GS when they let go in a fast turn.Painful day for body & wallet...That was on a aircooled GS.
On a LC with Anakee3 - this must be a brave man...:thumb
With Conti RoadAttack3 he would have been faster/safer...
Saw a video of Juergen Fuchs once on a R1200GS-LC killing regular blokes on S1000RR's on track...:D

Here is another man on a charge that day on a new bike shod with Michelin Anakees, he was running similar lap times to the mystery man and to corroborate what Boxerlust said, this guy had two moments when the back let go as the track heated up.
He realised that the tyres were struggling with the heat and ended up backing off slightly at the bottom of the mountain (the right-hander in the background) to save demolishing himself and the bike.
However this great shot shows that he’s still carrying a decent pace up the hill and demonstrates how quick these bikes can be.

I think Anakee 3 are a good tyre and well able for a spirited track day.

Look like I said , try reading the post , it had nothing to do with the TL , it’s the tyres , the more you push an adventure tyre the more it wants to let go , now add a track day in and the original post would make more sense to you , fuc wit

TL is definitely an advantage and not disadvantage,even at the track.TL is better than even my expensive Ohlins fork on my R Nine T . As TL does not dive you can brake much harder while the bike stays stable and does not change geometry or loose ground clearance.On bad pavements TL soaks up all the ripples while the fork transmits them into the handlebar,dives and can bottom out loosing traction when another bumps hits...
Missing feedback ? B.S. as even the best racers in the world crash as they don't feel the limit ! But the riding gods at the magazines feel the limits and always complain of lack of feedback with TL which gets parroted...:D GS on the track is fun except for long straights and when you are fast enough to over heat the street tires...then it can become painful for wallet and body...as even Road Attack 3 are not made for the temperatures a fast rider can put in them on the track after a few hot laps !
 
Actually the TL does compress and changes the trail which is preferable for road riding but makes it slow to turn. The upside is stability in the corner and under braking. And you can lift the rear wheel braking on track, trust me.
 
tanneman you are right, The R1200S definitely lifted it's rear wheel...You had to switch the ABS off riding hard on the track otherwise every time this happened the front brake would open...SCARY...:eek:
TL slow steering ? All my TL boxers GS,S,R were quick steering bikes after setting them up right with Ohlins and or shorter/longer paralever arm.But when the fork compresses you have less trail which makes the bike a little quicker steering.This is the only advantage of the fork.

Correct , but I would not call it slow , more like stable , if you lean , push the bars and your feet the slowness as you call it goes .
Normal forks under compression can tie themselves in knots or rather roll into the corner .
I had a full set of Maxton internals on my 1200 s multi and even with almost 2000 of suspension mods it still was never as stable as the Bm .
You can trail brake into a corner and the bike remains poised and ready to fire out of the corner carrying much of you entry speed around the corner as possible , even with the braking the front still goes where you want and allows you to look out of the corner and onto the next .
