Hi all, getting bike going after infrequent winter use, showing fully charged on optimate, but wont turn bike over-anyone got a great deal recently? Also, I have the jump start kit fitted-is this safe to use off car battery?
Cheers!

I have jumped using the jump posts from the car before, but not with the car engine running though.

Recently bought a yuasa battery fir my 2004 1200gs approx £60 from Halfords. Been doing the job great since beginning if March

I have an Odyssey gel....no problems since fitting in 2005 (yes, 12 years so far).

just to confirm, bike started easily with jump leads off car battery, but you have to pick an earth point carefully-not all points on frame appear to earth well. After a bit of trial and error, the little metal bracket on the centre stand spring seemed to do it. I'm sure it's an odyssey on there-I'll see if I can find receipt to see how long it lasted. I don't think prolonged periods of standing do any battery much good, tho.

somebody correct me if I am wrong..... remember being told that Odyssey batteries should never be put on Optimate?

Mine has lasted 12 years on an optimate.

Try jump starting it. No problem with car battery. There are a few things that could make a good battery not turn a bike over. Bad earth/connections. Siezed starter motor. Siezed altinator. JJH
