Yeah........................but it's oily and leaves a residue

Bought some of this SDoc 100 (made in Germany) - Black and Shine today £12 from HG

Had a look at the other S100 stuff (made in USA) also at Leeds Harley Davidson (weird kinda peeps there) and it was £10 for a smaller can...............so bought from the other stuff from HG

I'll do a 'before and after' report later in the week

It does leave a residue, an oily one..... which makes it easier to hose off mud and crap.

After it has burnt onto the engine.................

And evaporated................do you think it stays on there


WD40 is a lubricant and penetrating oil.......................days so on the tin, nothing about a cleaner

If the casings are in good nick, then any polish that will not leave it looking grey is the answer.

Kiwi black works (as it does on black plastic). It's just a wax polish with a pigment after-all. If the surface is still wet when applied, it doesn't affect it (like bulling boots, it can improve the shine).

I've found that Mer works without leaving that grey-look. Also Auto-Glym's polish that you use on a wet surface. Both have the advantage that being intended for use on wet surfaces (as well as on plastic and glass), they don't 'drag' like conventional polish does when water creeps out of some crevice.

Unlike spray-on treatments, polish discourages the crap from sticking in the first place, it is harder work but it lasts longer (and works much better IMO).

If the casings are tatty or have turned grey, anything like Kiwi or other 'back to black' type treatment will have patchy results and be temporary. The only real answer is a re-spray.

Let us know how you get on - I wish i'd taken before and after pics on the Harley engine as the black crinkle finish was dull and had white spots that I couldn't shift with any other product.After the S100 it was like new.
