Hi all,
Not sure if this is the right forum but here goes;
New to all things GS (6 weeks now).
I have booked myself onto the BMW challenge for 2021 !
I only intend on going to get a bit more into the GS “Thing” as i used to do a few harley rallies in the past and miss doing a few weekenders.

Has anyone done one ?
Is anyone going?
And lastly, what is good riding kit to get - not mega expensive but ok quality?

Sorry for all the questions but so far you lot have been mega helpful with all my other daft questions.:bow

Rowle.

Book the part 1 & part 2 BMW offroad courses and get themn under your belt

If your going to fall off practicing, do it one one of there bikes not your own ;)

Totally agree with the above. Although most folks will be entering for the craic, you at least want to know how to pick the bike up when you fall, and get a grasp of how to handle the bike offroad.
Just did Level 2 at the weekend, probably the best £500 my wife has ever spent on me
As for kit, It will get muddy and smelly, so don’t buy expensive. The school hire out Wülfsport kit for the courses, and most of the guys said it kept most of the water out (it was torrential all weekend)
Same can’t be said for my own Enduroguard suit, although taking a dunk in puddles a few times didn’t help

I found “riding with the front brakes locked on” was the best bit. Oh and Nick Plumb binning it in the water crossing worked for me too.

Not sure if you know but for the offroad part they now let you use one of heir bikes for the challenges.
I am mainly going for the craic and the road riding around the brecons.
£125 for 3 nights camping might be a laugh.

Yeah, knew that, but do they not give you their bikes for the off road tests?
Sounds fun!
