Anyone here got a GS Dry Suit, in particular the jacket?

Got to have play with one last night and liked the 'feel' and and simplicity.

What are they like to live with and what are the pros/cons over something like the Ralley jacket?

I looked at the GS Dry suit, but went with the new Rallye suit (4?), instead. It fitted better, and has more pockets. I've not tested it in the rain yet, but hope it lives up to expectations.

Wife has the GS Dry and loves it, finds it much more comfortable and we have been through some soaking rain in France on the Motorways and she reported she stayed dry and warm.

I looked at it, it has a permanent water proof shell, so might not breathe, the rally jacket was only a hundred quid more with all the toys.

There is no 'shell' as such with the Dry Suit, it is part of the jacket.... just realised this is probably what you meant :blast

The jacket is supposed to be breathable, it lets perspiration out but also keeps the rain out.

Having had a good look at both the Ralley jacket and the Dry Suit jacket I was drawn to the Dry Suit. It felt 10x lighter and was so much easier to get into/out of, the Ralley jacket felt like a straight jacket in comparison.

The GS Dry Suit ticks all my boxes but I want to hear from anyone (preferably a rider) who has 'lived' with one :thumb2

This suit is supposed to be a laminated waterproof shell similar in concept to Gore Tex ProShell. There again so was the BMW Coverall suit that I bought from Motorrad Central at Bishopbriggs before it closed. The Coverall leaked, was replaced, number 2 leaked was replaced, number three leaked and the waterproof leg zipper fell apart, all in the space of 6 months. I got a refund and bought a similar suit from a different manufacturer.

Verdict? I wouldn't trust BMW's own laminated material.

I have sent back 2 x Rallye 3 jackets as they leaked and the liner was poorly designed I was looking at the street guard 4 BMW gear is getting up there in price with Rukka falling short on the quality. The laminated lining in both the street guard and Dry suit must be the better option IMO

Dry Jacket

Paul

I've just bought one.

Very nicely made; very comfortable and looks great (in my opinion) .... I went for yellow/white/black. Had to be ordered from Germany as none in stock in my size.

However, not yet tested in the rain.... that's the next "trial" !

Cheers

Alex

Just bought the dry suit jacket and trousers today from oceans got a very good deal from the lads there. Not as bulky as the twat suit, so better for getting around tescos in,
Going from a hein gericke touratech jacket that's done me well for the last 5 years.
I'm hoping it will do as well as the HG jacket it's replacing , I will comment on it once its done a variety of trips. But comfort wise I'm feeling positive on it .

Bought a dry suit from Allan Jeffries at Xmas. Much preferred it to the rallye as it doesn't have the removable liner, can't stand having a soggy jacket that weighs a ton.

It is very comfortable, been out in the rain and it didn't leak a drop. Am not keen on the shorter zip to the trousers though, my old street guard had a wrap around zip, this only has a rear one and is awkward to connect. The zip also is not usable if you have braces, it's not a separate elastic zip if you see what I mean.

The trousers fit completely differently compared to the rallye. The dry pants fit and length is similar to street guard whereas the rallye is about 4 inches too long and isn't right at all. Very strange seeing as they are the same size.

It is quite thin so you need a couple of layers underneath in cold weather, more so than street guard 3. The back protector is massive and about an inch thick but you don't feel it at all. Not had the vents open yet as not warm enough but feels like will flow enough air to keep cool considering the permanent waterproof liner.

Jefferies didn't have the black one in so got grey, it does show up muck very quickly. Am going in hols to Scotland in a months time to the 6 day trial so no point in washing till I get back.

It is expensive for what it is, but had 5 years of service from the street guard and trust bmw kit. Just hope I get another 5 years out of this kit.

Also looking at one of these Dry Suits for touring - what sort of deals are folk getting?
