GS fitted HID now no lights!

Hi

Fitted some HID's to the GS today and also an RT.

The RT now has no lights working. Main beam works but not HID'd them just dipped. Why?

On GS fitted HID's and now fuel gauge doesnt work say's empty when there is plenty of fuel in there.

Your RT has very closely set current limits on the beams, and they trip with the initial current inrush when HIDs are turned on.
Guess how I know?

I spent many hours investigating the problem, and eventually decided the problem cound not be overcome with the ballasts I had bought. I fitted a set of fault supressors to the leads, and then wired thorugh relays fitted below tank. Cured problem, but at enormous effort.

Would suggest finding a supplier whose ballasts are specifically targeted at R1200rt. they do exist, though I am not sure of names. If you with a drawing of how to fit relays, I will post it.

Try Mick at motorbike adventures. Im sure he told me he did specific HID kits for your bike. Hes currently in Wales, dont know he he can pick up any emails.
