Hi guys.
I'm a fairly experienced rider, just sold my Hypermotard. Recently accepted a position to work aboard a yacht as an engineer and this particular boat is ok with me transporting my personal bike.... Very unusual for my industry, but I'll take it.
So, I've narrowed it down to a couple of models and the GS is one of them. The critical thing for me is getting the bike on and off the boat, so weight and size is is paramount because sometimes we have to drop it in the tender and take it ashore.
Initially I was leaning towards the 690KTM, but the added benefit of a better touring machine and off road capabilities - are making me have a serious look at the F800GS.
I am still slightly worried about the ingress/egress and wanted some of your thoughts.
I was thinking about building a special pallet to store the bike with the wheels off and craning it off on the pallet.
Has anything like this been done before? Basically, the smaller I make the bike, the less likely that I don't have to take it off when I don't want to.
I'm concerned with the weight as well, but only a little bit.
Any weight loss mods out there besides the exhaust?
I look forward to your replies.
David
