My wants for a bike seem to fall between the RT and the GS. I've only tried the RT (Sawbridgeworth BMW operate an insurance excess of £1000) which I compared with the new Pan. The Pan is bloody expensive and most of the market is adopting a wait & see approach. Honda's f*** you approach to its customers is a model of the type.

Mind you, BMW dealers are a fairly snooty bunch. I mean Sawbridgeworth is closed Sunday AND Monday. And Park Lane...

That aside I like the RT: its a big mother with lots of wind protection, and the price isn't totally stupid given all the toys are standard. I'm just not sure I want to look like a cop yet.

Anybody else been through this experience?

It's horses for courses. What do you want to do with it? I want to tour the Greek Isles, therefore it has to be the GS. I want to get to the Greek Isles, therefore...... Either would be good! Norman

I'm in the same position as you, and have been pondering and sending myself mad over the past month, for me the GS has come out on top, but thats purely due to my circumstances, I live in Cyprus where we have lots of little dirt roads... and it's hot, we ride in flip-flops and shorts from May 'til October, so the last thing I want is a fairing keeping me warm. I'm going to do some serious touring up into Europe later in the year but I think I'll take the chill for 3 weeks rather than being baked for the summer. For you it might be totally opposite.
Other considerations: do you wear Timberland (GS) or LaCoste (RT)? Armani? an LT would be better. Damn I think I'll have to trade the Gucci for a Rolex..
I think you have a few sleepless nights in front of you!:confused

I've owned a GS and RT at same time, never rode the RT much,so sold it.Just kept riding the GS,while the RT gathered dust in the garage.
Too big,too heavy and not as nimble as the GS.

Go and see Aaron at Cooper Reading. A less snooty dealer you will never find.

Mike.

RT or GS

Its not like the sun shines all the time in GB, and there seems to be a lot of noise over the effectiveness of the GS screen. I'm 6'3 so it matters if the screen simply funnels the airflow onto my helmet as it does at the moment
