I really don't want to give the business to the main dealer. As I said, I have no confidence in them & I will get the recommended independent to look after it for me. I will need to keep the service record up in order to keep the 2 year warranty valid.

Check out the T&Cs of the BMW 2 year warranty, it may require servicing to be carried out by them. Extended warranty is different to the standard BMW warranty from new whereby any VAT registered garage using genuine parts will satisfy warranty requirements.

I'm not sure how relevant it is but my 2013 TC 1200 GSA is serviced at main dealers every year. I had the 'big' service last year, cost £480, oil and filter only this year is £159.
