hi everyone first of all happy new year, now thanks to one of our fellow subscribers(motorhome)(very nice chap who sold me a gsa tank)i,m in the process of changing tanks over.but can someone tell me how do you go about seperating tank inards and filler cap.that may sound a bit of a silly question because there only seems to be two pipes connecting these two together(breather pipes?)i take it i have to remove these so how and where do i unclip these bmw clamps.i,ve only had the bike a fortnight so i,m been extra cautious when removing anything.cheers

I might be wrong about this - but I was advised to replace the O-ring that seals the fuel level gadget.

I have a brand new tank waiting for a respray and swap. And have this seal all ready for the work. part number 16141341008 plus a brand new fuel filter (makes sense to me to replace that too)

you can see a schematic of the tank etc on this site - http://www.maxbmwmotorcycles.com/fiche/MainDiagrams.asp?mospid=47979

which may give you some idea. Until a more definitive reply comes along. :thumb2

btw a quick search has turned up this - posted by aiden (moderator)

Will the internals fit the adv tank?

Yes again, but you will need some extra external fuel pipes for the ADV tank

Adventure tank

You will find the fuelfilter is far rom accurate in the bigger tank the light comes on early so reset the milage trip everytime you fill up. The filler cap assembly comes off by removing the srews around the plate surrounding the filler cap, the pump etc comes off by the oplate undr the tank. Fit a new filter is easy and new hose clips, make sure the filters around the right way.
Yoiu will require a piece of hose to go between thwe two lobes of the tank and it's best to fit this via two QD connectors. Very worthwhile mod as the range of the tank is very good and the chance of running out remote. Good mod had it on my 1150 for quite a while.
dave GS (happy new year).
