GS trounced by KTM

More like they had so little faith in the pilots, as it was they were mistaken and Charlie and Ewan did a stunning job on BM's

And if KTM had had faith, their bikes would probably be selling more than BM's now :nenau :D

I'd hazard a guess and say quite a lot of folk. :thumb
If you aint gonna use it off road you might as well buy a road bike rather than a dual sport bike :)

Like I said it's 4th in the Rider Power 2006 survey

The results are a mixture of reliability, performance, value for money etc. All based on owners feedback. You need to check out the mag really to get more info.

Not saying I agree with the results and they are obviously not based on real data but peoples view.

It does seem though that KTM owners are more satisfied with their bikes than GS owners (maybe they have lower expectations :nenau )

What suprised me (and the reason I posted the info) was that the 1200GS came 61st. Are owners really that dissatified with it?

I'm guessing some people from this site must of filled in the Rider Power Survey.
 
I meant the actual amount of off-roading that was undertaken on the LWR not the small amount that some of us will do.

Granted there are some on here who do substantial off-road stuff but I'm not one of them
 
To be honest, I like both the KTM and the GS, only reason I'd go for the GS is because I know for a fact that they are generally very reliable.
The old man :rob (Micky) has probably done nearly half a million miles on boxer engines without any serious problems. If he'd done the same milage on KTM's rather than BMW's I'd probably be riding a KTM now :thumb
 
Show me a KTM with some miles on it,and I'll start to take them as a serious competitor to my bike.Have you seen the second hand market for KTMs,how to loose money very quickly,and that's going to put a lot of people off them!

And over a long distance race they'd finish 1st 'cos you wouldn't have to stop and fix em like these 1200 thingies :thumb

I've always considered the major flaw in the Rider Power surveys is that they never reveal how many surveys they receive on each bike. With the ability to register online, it leaves the system open to abuse. Who knows how many times Tentoone registered details of his 1200 under different names for example!! :D :D

.....and the reasoning behind this is? I've no intention of taking mine off road, but will enjoy it on road as it suits me far better than a "road" bike, whatever one of those may be.

I'd agree with that.

It's like the JD power survey. I know a couple of years ago they only needed 5 respondents to include a car in the survey.

In most of these automotive surveys you normally find the Japanese manufactures come top for reliability. But it is all based on subjective data and brand image has a big influence on that.
If you look at real warrenty cost data (based on frequency and cost of repair) you find that many French, US and Italian manufactures are just as good.
 
Presumably I'm not the only one who doesn't give a fook what they print in 'Ride' :nenau

If you're new to biking and need someone to tell you what to buy and where to ride it then 'Ride' is the magazine for you. It really looks after the 'hard of thinking' :D
