GS wc adventure wheels.

Hi guys
Having had the toilet with crossspoked wheels for a year now and not happy with the finish on them and the shite they show and pick up from the front pads.
I quite fancy the look of the dark cross spoked on the old and new adventure.
So i asked the question at local retailers and asked if i could get my wheels sprayed up and made like the adventures.
The answer was With the flex of the wheels etc the paint wouldnt stick
So the question is how do they do it on the adventure wheels.
and rather than pay near enough another grand and go buy the adventure wheels, how would i go about it
any ideas

AFAIK the only place that can rebuild and paint Behr cross spoked tubeless rims are the Devon Wheel Company:

I've seen a set fitted to an 1150 that were painted black with stainless spokes. Finish looked really good.

If I had a WC I'd be seriously considering fitting the 17" cast wheels from the RT - painted black.

I think you're looking at nearer £1500 for a pair of spoked wheels from BMW.

I asked the dealer and he gave me that figure as an estimate, should have gone for them when I bought the bike

As for anodising (I'm assuming that's what it is), it shouldn't crack. If you can find a decent plater, I'd have said you'd be fine. I'd even go as far as powder coating would be ok too.

That was one of the reasons i had a dely in the delivery of mine in the first place waiting for the wire wheels. On my old bike
I was quite partial to polishing my rims,,,,,,,,,,,,..oooooeeerr misses.
but you just cant get these ones clean , they look shite even when clean,
I dont want a chrome finish .

I've had a set of wheels built for my 955 Daytona using KTM hubs and Excel rims by a guy in Reading called Carl Abram. He has done GS cross spoked wheels for other customers so could well be worth a call and a chat

I am going to my GSA wires re done at Devon rim at the end of the season as the finish on them is being to to look crap and is not a true black more a purple black and they never really polish up.

Front wheel out of shape

I have a R1200 GSA and my front wheel , which has spokes..... is buckled.....I have not hit anything, there are no marks on it or scratches.....I'm at a loss as to no what to do....Hagons can not do it and another place in Devon said the same.....does anyone know what ally rims would fit

Mine did the same two years ago, well out of true, I got Devon wheel company to sort it and it has been fine since

Wow. It takes a lot to buckle spoked GS wheels. They are built very well and capable of taking some very big hits. In fact, I havent heard of anyone buckling them. Try a warranty claim.

Mine went all on its own with no help and apparently according to the repairer it is a common problem

A spoked wheel will only "go by itself" if there are issues with the spoke tension. Likely an issue when built in the first place. Hence worth pursuing warranty route.

Warranty claim the inside of my back is corroded to hell basically " not fit for purpose" waiting on BMW goodwill, well my good will is going out the door and off to trading standards and then Vosa as a potential death trap.

Problem is initial build quality whats to say a one replaced under warranty because it was out of true will be any better 6 months down the line.
Mine was re trued 2 years ago and is still fine

Because the problem is very rare, so the odds are with you. I dare you to search for this problem on this site...you wont find much of it occurring. Which reinforces any warranty claim for which you have absolutely nothing to lose.
