I've a technical problem with my GS1 Boots!

Has anyone figured out a way to stop the 'buckles' comming undone, especially the second lowest?

Gaffer tape is a little bit out of keeping with the "Star Wars Storm Trooper" look.

Sounds like the same problem I had with my B#W Kalahari boot buckles. If you look there is a little metal pin running through the buckle and this is what it hinges on . On mine the top is concaved and the bottom is convex....or in English the top of the pin has a dimple in it and the bottom doesn't.
Place the boot on a firm hard surface and tap the dimple end of the buckle pin with a hammer and punch that is about the same size as the pin. You could use a large nail if you don't have a punch . Do it GENTLY and keep testing the buckle. It starts to stiffen up and also stops flapping as you tap it.
Works on mine so I hope it works on your 'Storm Trooper' boots too :D
Good luck

PS No warranty or guarantee given with this procedure - your boots may be different than mine so if you try it it's your own risk .

buy some sticky backed velcro and stick a SMALL square under each buckle.......:D for the squeaks... wd40 or mr sheene

Thanks Gecko, that helps quite a lot. With a less flappy buckle it all seems to click more firmly into place. You can unscrew the buckle on the GS1 and clamp it in a vise which makes things easier.

The cause of the problem seems to be with the design of the strap end. When its clamped there's a lot of leverage on the strap side of the buckle which 'pops' it up. I've attacked one strap with a stanley knife to reduce the leverage and that, with a firmer buckle, seems to do the trick. One down, 7 to go.

May be a bit late but i was looking at the GS1 in a Dealers the other day and the lower straps on the boots i was trying on kept coming undone, the dealer then said he had some replacement clips he had to fit before i purchased as this was a recognised and fixed warr issue.
So to cut a long story short your dealer is aware of the problem and should be able to fix under warr or at a cost.

Do you think they'd clean them for me under warranty? :)

As I bought them S/H off this site I don't have proof of purchase - are the dealers usually ok with warranty fixes without a reciept?

I've posted in your thread.

Cheers.

Aye those bleeding GS1 boots. I have had mine in the cupboard since I bought'em. My calf is so big even size 11 will not fit comfortably for me. All the buckles pop except the first. Otherwise the blood stops in my toes and I'm afraid of blodclots!!

Still, they look nice new and polished up.

Does anybody have more information about this?

Are there new type buckles available? If so, are the any better?

Cheers,
Michel
